Although subject matter is regional, our artists convey timeless and universal qualities that resonate with art buyers nationally. We strive to make owning original art accessible to all, believing it enhances any home or work environment. While some art appreciates in value over time, we believe that’s a secondary benefit to its lived value as part of daily life.
Gallery History
Dana Gallery, located in the heart of historic downtown Missoula, is one of the largest contemporary art galleries in Montana. We opened in 1996, specializing in photography. Soon our interests expanded, and we began representing Montana painters, then regional Western painters.
Current Gallery
In 2004 we moved to our current location, quadrupling our exhibit space. Currently we represent thirty artists in addition to hosting special group showings of more than 100 artists. Our past events have included the Oil Painters of America national show for two years, Meridian International’s Out West show, and twice coordinated the nationally juried Icons of the West show. Every summer, twenty years and counting, we have held a Paint Out, bringing together artists for plein air creative camaraderie culminating in a month-long exhibition. Dana Gallery has been host to numerous nonprofit fundraisers, poetry readings, concerts, and even wedding receptions. Twelve-time winner of the “Best of Missoula” gallery award speaks to our central role in the Missoula arts community.
