Description
Wild horses represent freedom, instinct, resilience, and that part of us that refuses to be completely tamed.
In this painting, some of the horses are clearly defined while others dissolve into the grasses, color, and texture. I wanted the viewer to have to look for them, to discover another horse, another gesture, another small story each time they return to the painting. The turquoise and soft greens give the piece a sense of open air and distance, while unexpected flashes of orange, pink, violet, red, and blue bring life and individuality to the herd. Heavy texture allows the surface itself to become part of the movement. Nothing is too controlled, because wildness shouldn’t feel controlled.
