Description
This is one of those paintings that I finished with tears in my eyes. I started the painting at the Ninepipe National Wildlife Reduge and finished it in my studio. Swans Landing was inspired by my belief that swans are angels. Whenever I see them, I am reminded that we are surrounded by quiet reminders of love, hope, and the presence of those who watch over us.
In this painting, the swans descend through a luminous sky, appearing almost as messengers emerging from the light. I chose soft blues, lavenders, and warm golden tones to create a feeling of peace and reverence. The textured marshland below contrasts with the openness above, drawing the eye toward the glowing horizon where heaven and earth seem to meet. The birds themselves are painted with simple, graceful strokes, allowing them to feel less like ordinary creatures and more like spiritual beings returning home.
For me, Swans Landing is a reminder that angels often reveal themselves through nature. In moments of stillness, a sunset, a bird in flight. or the sound of wings overhead can bring comfort and a sense that we are never truly alone. Through this painting, I hope to share that feeling of peace and invite viewers to recognize the sacred beauty that surrounds us every day.
