Description
This painting is my tribute to Glacier National Park and a Blackfoot friend of mine who passed just a few years ago. Blackfoot Crossing the Sun is about timeless connection: the moment where the mountains, the sky, and the spirit of the Blackfoot people become one. It reminds us that some places are sacred not only for their beauty, but because they continue to carry the voices of those who came before us.
Long before it became a national park, these mountains were (and remain) a place of deep cultural and spiritual significance to the Blackfoot people. Glacier is more than a landscape, it is a homeland where stories, ceremonies, and generations of memory continue to live.
In Blackfoot Crossing the Sun, the lodges rise from the earth like living prayers. The tall lodge poles connect Heaven and Earth. The brilliant reds and blues symbolize the balance between earth and sky, while the feathers speak of honor, guidance, and the enduring presence of ancestors.
