Wesley Drake is a traditional representational painter often found painting en plein air where he can observe the interaction of light and color on the subject, and have the emotional connection that painting from life creates. His influences are derived mostly from the traditional styles of John Singer Sargent, George Inness, William Trost Richards and William Merritt Chase. While acquiring his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with honors, Wes Drake solidified his artistic foundations and discipline in traditional painting methods. Upon moving to Chicago, he discovered the 100-year old Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Art to be a great place to continue honing his skills with the community of artists found there.
