Garth Williams was fortunate to be born in the big sky country of Helena, Montana. He grew up acquiring a great love of the outdoors. There is a memory of his dad packing him across a trout stream on his back so they could get to the
next fishing hole (the best time to fish was always in the fall when the streams were low and clear, and the autumn colors are spectacular). Now, when Williams sees fall aspens, many special memories come to mind.

At a very young age, Williams would watch his grandpa create a painting with oil paint. He still has some of his paintings today, but his encouragement to paint greatly influenced his decision to become an artist many decades ago. Garth then met a very special friend Robert Moore, a wonderful who had inspired Williams for nearly a decade. This turned out to be a real blessing in his life for Moore gave Williams the opportunity to study impressionism and Western art under Moore’s constant supervision. Developing a unique concept of realism is the most important step in creating a painting. This allows the viewer to determine what shapes are woven together to influence what images appear.

Garth Williams is currently residing in Burley, a beautiful small town in the bottom center of Idaho. He has lived there most of his life and enjoys living in a small community. The beautiful state of Idaho provides Williams with the opportunity to fly fish many lakes and streams and continue to explore the great outdoors.
