What is Paint Out?

Every summer for 23 years, Dana Gallery artists have gathered in Missoula to paint outside, “en plein air.”
We call this Paint Out, and you’re invited!

TUES JULY 8

Artists Paint in/around Missoula
Everyone is invited to watch! Contact Dana Gallery for help finding the artists.
Visit Dana Gallery to see their “Studio Work,” new paintings they brought from home!

WED JULY 9

Artists Paint Mission Mountains
Paint Out Partners are invited to watch!

THURS JULY 10

Artists Paint in/around Missoula
Everyone is invited to watch! Find Some Artists Downtown!

FRI JULY 11

Community Paint at Maclay Flats 3-7 PM
Everyone is invited to watch! Bring your own supplies and paint en plein air!

SAT JULY 12

Paint Out Party!
Paint Out Partners are invited to a private dinner reception with the artists and choose their paintings

How do I participate?

"I want to watch Dana Gallery Artists paint!"

You’ll want to be at Maclay Flats Friday, July 11th! This is a great time to see the artists all in one place.

You may also be interested in watching the artists paint Tuesday, July 8th and Thursday July 10th. They will be spread throughout Missoula and the Bitterroot Valley, so contact Dana Gallery to find them!

"I want to paint!"

No matter your age or your experience level, you are invited to bring your own supplies to Maclay Flats on Friday, July 11th! Set up just like our artists, channel your inner Monet, and paint up a storm en plein air!

"I want to sponsor Paint Out!"

If you want to help make Paint Out possible, attend a private dinner party with the artists, and go home with a painting you love, then you’ll want to become a Paint Out Partner!

Paint Out Partners make a down payment of either $600, $900, or $1200 toward purchasing a painting on Saturday at the Paint Out Party. Your down payment can go toward any work by our attending artists, whether one they brought from their studios or one they painted at Paint Out! As a sponsor, you will have choice of the new artwork before it becomes publicly available.

If you are a Paint Out Partner, you’ll see all the paintings Saturday night at the Paint Out Party!
Otherwise, visit Dana Gallery to see the paintings anytime starting Sunday, July 13th through the rest of the month!
