Jim was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1958. His early artistic influences included Charles Schultz by the way of newsprint, Chuck Jones by the way of the tube and his mother who was oil painting at the time. The apple does not fall far from the tree and after years of working as an illustrator, Jim now enjoys a career in fine art oil painting.
Jim was recently commissioned by the University of Michigan to complete forty portraits of their 'Million Dollar' sponsors.

"In painting the traditional American west I have found a genre that suits who I am, how I want to paint and what I want to say. There is enough diversity and richness in this category for a lifetime of painting and exploration."
